How this baking adventure began:
Hi, my name is Isa. First of all, I've been working for others in the food industry since 2002, which is the same year I graduated from the Culinary Institute. The desire to be my own boss, to increase my creative freedom and to build long-lasting client relationships encouraged me to begin this venture. I had my second child in 2015. In my heart, I was sure this time I could not go back to work and leave my newborn in someone else's hands. To that end, I literally spent my baby's first months trying to figure out the right job for me. It was my 9 year old son Max, who helped me find my way by breaking his iPad! I had the noble intention of teaching him the value of things, (I am that kind of mom I guess) and decided he would have to pay for the repair. Of course he was in shock when I told him the news and immediately whined "whaaat? But how, mom?" "Well", I replied, "I'll bake some cookies and you can get out there and sell them in the complex we live in." He wasn't sure about this and to be honest, neither was I. Saturday morning came and to my total surprise my little entrepreneur showed up in the kitchen asking when I was planning to start the baking. So, right after breakfast I jumped in front of the KitchenAid and made four different types of cookies, put them in cellophane bags and inside a basket and off Max went on his bike with a determination to succeed pasted on his face. Long story short, he sold them so fast that in three weekends he had put together enough money to fix the broken thing. Aside from finding out how good is my kid at business, I started having people coming to our door asking for the cookies because they really liked them! This is when I realized that baking from home could be the job I was asking for.
Finally, you have to know that baking is one of the three things I can happily do for hours--singing and reading are the other two--and the idea of becoming your official "neighborhood baker" and sharing my sweet treats with you and your family in this tiny pretty city we live in would be a dream come true.
